The dog is the bag. The bag is the dog. We refuse to explain further.

Barkin — handmade bag

Cut, stitched and finished by hand

Each case takes one artisan eleven days: full-grain hides selected for the breed, saddle-stitched at eight points to the centimetre, hardware set by hand. No two noses come out alike. We consider this a feature.

Frequently Asked

Questions we get, answered plainly

On the leather, the atelier, the list — and the dogs the collection was drawn from.

What exactly is Barkin?

A small Dubai atelier making handmade full-grain leather cases sculpted in the shape of dogs. Collection No. I is three breeds — a corgi, a doberman and a pug — each produced in a numbered edition.

How is a Barkin case made?

By hand, one at a time. Full-grain hides are selected for the breed, cut into panels — eleven for a face alone — saddle-stitched at eight points to the centimetre, then finished with hardware set by hand. Uncorrected leather means no two noses come out alike. We consider this a feature.

Are the bags for sale?

Not yet. Barkin is waitlist-only. First fittings are offered in the order of the list, by appointment, in Dubai. Joining costs nothing, commits you to nothing, and we write once — not twice.

Can you make a case of my own dog?

Yes. Choose “Use my own dog” on the waitlist form and we will be in touch to gather portraits, measurements and temperament. Bespoke commissions take longer than eleven days and are strictly limited.

What happens after I join the list?

You receive a position number immediately. When your breed is ready, we write once — by email, or on WhatsApp if you left a number. Your details are never sold, shared or added to a mailing list.

Why do you ask for a phone or WhatsApp number?

Fittings are by appointment and time-sensitive, and WhatsApp is how the UAE actually replies. It is used for your fitting. Nothing else.

Sultan, Habibi, Charlie — are they real dogs?

They are. Each case in Collection No. I was drawn from life — from a dog we met in a shelter here in the Emirates — rather than from a breed standard. It is why the proportions are a little particular, and why we name them.

Can I meet the dog mine was modelled on?

Tick the box on the waitlist form and we will tell you where he was drawn, and who is looking after him. Some are still looking for homes. We will leave that there.

Where is Barkin based, and where do you deliver?

Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Collection No. I is offered first across the UAE and the wider GCC. Fittings are held in Dubai by appointment.

Press and partnership enquiries?

Write to the atelier. Press kits, high-resolution imagery, and interviews — in English or Arabic — are available on request.
